Hey! I am Chelsey,

The owner/founder of CKG Productions.

I am a photographer, videographer, and editor based in Johannesburg, Gauteng. I am also known professionally as “the photographer with the blue hair”

I have been in the industry full-time since 2021. However, I have been doing part-time work professionally since 2015. My late grandfather, Eric Gunning, was an avid wildlife photographer; his passion and love for photography fuelled my interest in photography from a young age. This is where I drew inspiration for the name of my company, as I wanted to commemorate all he had taught me through his time spent on Earth, which is why I used the initial for his surname when coming up with a name.

I enjoy a vast variety of shoots, as it is a creative outlet for me to capture timeless memories.

My photography/videography journey so far includes: weddings, birthdays, events, surprise engagements, engagements, car shoots, funerals/memorials, family shoots, couple shoots, model portfolios, animals/pets shoots, food, and product shoots to name a few.

I had the privilege to work with Husky Rescue South Africa, Kryolan East Rand, Mrs. South Africa, t3 Plastic Packaging, Capello’s Boksburg, Gas Monkey Boksburg, Pug Rescue South Africa (just to name a few).

^01. Where I Work

My editing space is home-based. However when it comes to my shoots I travel all over and have worked at many wonderful venues over the years. My number one priority is the safety of my clients, therefore I always ensure that the venue/location where any shoot takes place is safe enough for everyone involved. I always do my absolute best that all of my clients have an enjoyable experience while working with me and are satisfied with the “final product” from the shoot.

Two of my favourite venues in the East Rand area to shoot is Legacy Photography Studio in Brakpan and Photo Factory Venue in Boksburg.

^02. PRO Equipment

My equipment plays a vital role in the quality of the final product. My go-to brands are Canon, Godox, Sigma, Newer, DJI, Tamron, HollyLand and Rode.

^03. Photo Processing

Here is an example of how I work my “magic” on images. I only shoot my images in RAW format to ensure that I can provide my clients with high resolution images that can then be used for printing, posting on social media, etc. Shooting in RAW is also extremely handy when lighting doesn’t go according to plan. The below image was taken in studio and unfortunately one of the studio lights did not go off with the camera’s trigger, but because I shot the image in RAW it was a quick fix in Photoshop. This image is also a good example of how I like to retouch my work too.
